Comprehensive Collection of Camera Solutions
Generally, when we refer to the camera solution, we mean the main control chip on the board inside the plastic shell. There are two main solutions on the market: CCD and CMOS. Below, we list some companies, such as Sony, the US-based OV, Magnachip, Korean chips, and CMOS chips, which have developed various specifications of CCD and CMOS modules for car rearview cameras and security surveillance camera modules. These modules find widespread applications in fields such as visual parking assist, security surveillance, medical inspection, industrial endoscopes, toy cameras, visual access control cameras, car GPS navigation cameras, and more.

A typical camera consists of a lens, a sensor chip, and peripheral circuits. The sensor chip cannot work independently; it requires support from peripheral circuits to convert light signals into electrical signals. When light passes through an object and is focused by the lens, the focus falls directly on the light-sensitive element of the sensor chip, thereby converting it into an electrical signal. The output signal format for a camera using the PAL TV system typically includes four wires: positive, ground, audio output, and video output. CMOS cameras usually have a power supply voltage of 6-9V, and the peak-to-peak value of the video signal is 1V.

  1. Sony camera: Sony offers various solutions, and below are parameters for one of their boards:

Sony High-Line (Main chip 639 + 3172) Image Sensor: 1/3" SONY COLOR Pixels: 752 x 582 (NTSC) Horizontal Resolution: 540TVL Minimum Illumination: 0.01Lux Sync System: Internal S/N Ratio: ≥48dB Auto White Balance: ON/OFF Auto Gain Control: ON/OFF Backlight Compensation: ON/OFF Auto Iris: Video/DC Power Supply: DC12V Video Output: 1.0Vp-p75Ω Operating Current: 90mA Operation Temperature: -10℃ to +50℃

  2. US-based OV company is one of the world's largest image sensor manufacturers, with products widely used in smartphones, digital devices, automotive electronics, PCCAM, security, etc., with pixel ranges from 300,000 to 5,000,000. Below are some models they offer:

  3. Sharp camera solution: Sharp camera solutions are also common in the market, with lower prices than Sony's and a relatively large market share. Below are the specifications for a Sharp-configured chip:

Sharp High-Line (Main chip 2321 + 38603) Image Sensor: 1/3" sharp COLOR Pixels: 752 x 582 (NTSC) Horizontal Resolution: 420TVL Minimum Illumination: 0.01Lux S/N Ratio: ≥48dB Auto White Balance: ON/OFF Auto Gain Control: ON/OFF Backlight Compensation: ON/OFF Auto Iris: Video/DC Power Supply: DC12V Video Output: 1.0Vp-p75Ω Operating Current: 90mA Operation Temperature: -10℃ to +50℃ Size: 38x38 (single board)

With the increasing popularity of cameras, the number of solution companies has also grown. However, a few companies still have a higher market share. Nowadays, the competition is based on price and service, and the industry has moved from a high-profit era to a low-profit era.
